FATHERS & KNOWLEDGE (PT. 13)
Phil. 3:17 “Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.”
This verse reveals that there is a pattern to be followed when it comes to manhood. The world today attempts to define manhood apart from a Biblical perspective. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word, knowledge, is defined as “the fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association.” However, Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words defines knowledge, GINOSKO in Greek, as “to come to know, recognize, or to understand completely” (pg.627). Fathers desperately need spiritual revelation and Godly knowledge when it comes to manhood.
Paul, writing to the Philippians, clearly reveals that God, the Father, has given us a pattern revealing and validating his intent when He created man in his own image and likeness. Paul alludes to this fact in his letter to the Philippian church. He admonishes his hearers to “take note of his example and of those who live according to the pattern they have been given.” In our next blog, we will continue our pursuit of God’s will for men, not only to know the truth, but to exemplify his heart in creating the male man.
