FATHERS & KNOWLEDGE (PT. 14)

John 5:19 “So Jesus explained, I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”

Every son should receive an impartation of who he is from his father. Of course, a son receives his identity from his father. A son receives his name from his father. Thus, we can conclude that a son receives his identity from his father. Identity is defined as “the distinguishing character or personality of an individual. God created fathers to be the role models for their sons. A son gains a revelation of what it means to be a man from his father. A man without an identity is unidentifiable. For example, when a man does not know who he is, he leans on someone else’s identity. Maybe this is why so many men literally wear someone else’s identity, whether that be Niki or some other name brand. The prophet Samuel rebuked King Saul, stating: “How foolish! You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you. Had you kept it, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom must end, for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart.” 1 Sam. 13:13, 14.

Jesus affirmed this truth when He said, “The Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees his father doing.”  May every son get his identity from his father. Jesus confirmed that He and His Father were one. Their identity was validated by their being one. Let us pray that every son will have a father or a role model whom they can imitate when it comes to manhood.
