FATHERS & KNOWLEDGE (PT. 15)
Knowledge is defined as “the act or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association.” This speaks volumes when it comes to Fathers and Sons. This is a relationship that cannot be taken for granted. There are too many sons who lack the experience or association of a father. Even more challenging is the lack of experience, even when the father is present in the home, but not in fathering.
1 Cor. 14:9 declares “…if you speak to people in words they don’t understand, how will they know what you are saying? You might as well be talking into empty space.”
This is especially the case when it involves men. There are too many sons who have no idea of manhood because they lack a relationship with a father. Today’s fathers tend to tell their sons about what a man is supposed to do as opposed to who a man is to become. God created man first with the intent that he would impart to his family, especially to his sons, what becoming a man truly looks like. This need is great. Sons must know who they are before they can master what they do. Sons must have the right pattern if they are to become Godly men. We need spiritual fathers in order to raise Godly sons. May men not just pass on knowledge, may they be the examples of Godly fathers! I remind us that a picture is still worth a thousand words.
